AT&T is the second-biggest employer of call center workers in the Triad. To boot, the center at 3709 Wireless Drive in Greensboro has garnered awards for its excellent work environment.
Around 1,000 employees handle account and service matters for wireless small business customers at the call center, according to Della Bowling, AT&T spokeswoman for the Carolinas.
To be considered for a position, applicants must have a high school diploma or GED certificate and at least six months of customer service experience. They also should have basic computer skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Call center representatives receive up to six weeks of in-depth classroom training and three weeks of developmental training, which includes hands-on call experience and mentoring support, Bowling says. AT&T offers competitive salary and benefits.
The call center environment is highly interactive and cutting edge, Bowling says. “The representatives inside our Greensboro call center provide customer care support for some of the newest and most innovative wireless products and services.” But working for a company that constantly deals with new technology, and which operates around the clock, also means employees need to be flexible, she adds.
Because of its size, AT&T offers great opportunities for good jobs with competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including full health coverage, a 401K plan and pension, life and accident insurance, paid time off and tuition reimbursement.
The N.C. Employment Security Commission named the call center the Employer of the Year for the Piedmont Triad region in 2007, and The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area recognized it as one of this year’s top 10 places to work locally.
It’s easy to see why. The call center holds events and festivals for employees throughout the year, and the company is actively involved in charity and fundraising projects for the community, Bowling says. It also features a resource room where employees can visit to seek assistance buying a home or car, budgeting or planning a career path.
To top it off, the facility also has a basketball court employees can use during their breaks.
Bowling says AT&T is still seeking qualified candidates. You can find out more by visiting www.att.com.
