Count down to 2009 in the Triad. With dancing and live music, stand-up comedy and even fun events for kids, the Triad offers a variety of ways for you to ring in the new year.
Here's a glance at a selection of New Year's Eve celebrations in the Triad. All events take place on Dec. 31 unless otherwise noted.
New Years' Eve Party with The Mantras
What: Champagne toast, party favors and live music

New Year's Rockin' Eve "Eve Party" with Big Bang Boom!
What: Romp and stomp with some creative noise makers in creation station, parade down the museum's Main Street and rock out with Big Bang Boom! We will countdown to "Noon" Year's Eve.

Noon Year's Eve Celebration

New Year's Eve with The Drifters
What: Entertainment featuring the Drifters performing all-time favorite classics. Dinner buffet, open bar, party favors, balloon drop, champagne toast at midnight.

Greensboro Symphony Orchestra Carolina POPS "Big Band Blast"
What: Pianist Rich Ridenour pays tribute to the Big Band Era from Count Basie to Duke Ellington with vocals by Kathy Wagner.

The Winston-Salem Symphony's Plugged-In POP Series New Year's Celebration
What: Featuring Winston-Salem native Chris Murrell, former lead vocalist with the Count Basie Orchestra. Noisemakers, party hats, and a balloon drop.

What: The 6th annual New Year's Bash at the Idiot Box: The night will be filled with improv comedy (featuring Jennie Stencel, Steve Lesser, AJ Schraeder, Bob Beshere, Doug Heberle and more), stand-up comedy (featuring Mike Hannon and Kyle Curtis), and the hilarious sketch comedy group, "No F in Sketch."
