Having trouble finding a job? Get yourself out there. Join us from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center for the annual Triad Careers Spring Job Fair.
You’ll get a chance to talk to hiring employers, participate in one of five seminars (starting at 11 a.m.) that cover topics from interviewing skills to jobs in health care, and get career guidance and résumé assistance. Here’s the breakdown:
Seminars
Interviewing Skills
Presented by: Milton Grady, Goodwill Industries
Time: 11 a.m. to noon
Summary: Grady will go over the do’s and don’ts during an interview, give pointers for different types such as one-on-one and panel interviews, and take a look at some of the toughest interview questions and how to answer them.
Health Care Careers
Presented by: Marty Cooper, Healthcare Careers Code Blue
Time: Noon to 1 p.m.
Summary: Cooper will give an overview of the various health care careers in nursing and allied health fields such as physical and occupational therapy, respiratory therapy and emergency medical transport. She’ll also highlight entry-level jobs, fields with the greatest need, jobs requiring relatively short educational tracks, and available financial aid. She’ll emphasize jobs with Moses Cone Health System, Forsyth Medical Center/Novant Health and High Point Regional Health System, which sponsor Healthcare Careers Code Blue.
Résumés for Recession
Presented by: Bill Holub, eResumePros.com
Time: 1 to 2 pm.
Summary: Holub will give job seekers pointers on how to construct an effective résumé and cover letter that work best in this highly competitive market. Learn how to maximize your chances of landing an interview by demonstrating your evidence-backed accomplishments through an easy-to-read résumé format.
Career Transitions
Presented by: Vivek Kshetrapal, Guilford County Workforce Development Board/JobLink
Time: 2 to 3 p.m.
Summary: Understanding what opportunities there are in the current labor market and aligning one’s own strengths and skills with those opportunities are the keys to making a career transition successful. Kshetrapal will talk about market trends, how to pinpoint your transferable skills, and will take a look at various community resources to help you make the transition process as smooth as possible.

Dress for Success Fashion Show
Hosted by Tammy Friedeck, volunteer
coordinator with Goodwill Industries
3 to 3:30 p.m.
A showcase of various professional outfits pieced together using items from Goodwill’s retail store to demonstrate how job seekers can dress appropriately for job interviews without breaking the bank.
Résumé Report Card
Noon to 4 p.m.
Employment recruiters and trainers from The HR Group Inc. will offer job seekers free résumé assistance to avoid committing common mistakes on this ever-important document.
Career Guidance Information
Noon to 4 p.m.
Visit JobLink Career Center’s booth to learn about its wide array of programs designed to help you find a job or get the training necessary to get a better job. Services include career planning and development; job search and life skills classes; referrals to other programs for occupational skills training; and networking opportunities.
